Dr. Beane’s Bio

Dr. Susan Beane

Vice President and Executive Medical Director – Healthfirst.

Dr. Susan Beane joined Healthfirst in 2009, bringing with her extensive professional experience in managed care. As Vice President and Executive Medical Director at Healthfirst, Dr. Beane focuses on care management and clinical provider partnerships, especially programs designed to improve the delivery of vital, evidence-based healthcare to our members. Dr. Beane, is a dedicated primary care physician and board-certified internist, she is a strong proponent of collaborating with and engaging providers to improve health outcomes.  Most of all Dr. Beane is a woman of faith, one who believes in the power of Healing through Hope, prayer and by living a Healthful life.

Dr. Chen’s Bio

Dr. Daniel Chen

Dr. Daniel Chen received his psychiatry residency training at North Shore University Hospital, NYU School of Medicine. He has been working at the Departments of Psychiatry of Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and Flushing Hospital Medical Center since he finished his residency training in 2001. Administratively, Dr. Daniel Chen serves as the Vice Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Addiction Services at Flushing Hospital Medical Center. He is the Director of the Asian Behavioral Health Program.  He served as the Director of the Mental Health Clinic from 2003 to 2018.

Academically, Dr. Chen is Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Medicine at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and is Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry at Ross University School of Medicine. As the Chairman of the Institutional Review Board at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, Dr. Chen oversees all of the research activities at the hospital. He was the PI of the three NYS Integrated Physical Health and Mental Health Care Projects, and has done a number of other research projects including the APA’s DSM-5 Field Trial. He has had several publications and has presented his studies nationally and internationally.

Clinically, Dr. Chen has expanded the Asian Behavioral Health Services and strengthened the multicultural treatment programs. Under Dr. Chen’s initiative and leadership, Flushing Hospital was granted by the State of New York for one of the ten integrated physical health and mental health care licenses at the Mental Health Clinic and the Reflections Addictions Clinic. Dr. Chen has also been serving as the Medical Director at Hamilton-Madison House since 2002. Dr. Chen served as the Co-President of the 5th World Congress of Cultural Psychiatry in NYC from 2015 to 2018 which the Congress was successfully held in NYC from Oct 10 to Oct 13, 2018.

Dr. Paul Amajor, MD, MS-HSM, is a Consultant with Healthfirst, the largest non-profit healthcare insurance provider in New York. In his current role, Dr. Amajor works on systemic change to improve the medical and health outcomes for New York’s most vulnerable. He also works to improve access to care and addresses issues surrounding Social Determinants of Health for the most vulnerable. As a consultant at Healthfirst, Dr. Amajor actively supports the ongoing efforts to stand up the Healthfirst Foundation.

Dr. Amajor engages partners, secular, and non-secular, to implement strategies that address the social needs encountered by their member population that negatively influences their health outcomes.

Dr. Amajor is the lead Physician Consultant on the “Whole You Program.” An initiative built to address the HIV epidemic. In this role, Dr. Amajor handles building strategies to improve PrEP uptake, ARV therapy compliance, and increasing testing. Dr. Amajor also actively supports various efforts to improve the Covid-19 vaccination education and uptake, as well as improve vaccination access.

Before joining Healthfirst, Dr. Amajor was a Senior Consultant and Clinical SME with COPE Health Solutions and Consensus Health Consultants. He provided vital insights and a strategic approach in designing and incorporating social determinants of health data into a core digital product. His expertise provided actionable insights required for patient stratification and innovative SDOH initiative design with this digital tool.

Dr. Amajor received his Medical Degree and Master’s in Health Science from the University of Oradea, Faculty of Medicine, in Romania. He also has a Specialized Business Master’s in Healthcare Management which he received from the Rutgers Business School in Newark/New Brunswick. Dr. Amajor also holds a certificate from HarvardX in improving Global Health: Focusing on Quality and Safety.

He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee). And is a Beta Gamma Sigma member – International Business Honor Society. Dr. Amajor also sits on the Board of the DO in the making Scholarship Fund. He is active in mentoring today’s youths in pursuing their academic and professional goals.

I am a CNS and personal trainer, Clinical Fitness Specialist for all patients going through cancer treatment and cancer survivors.  I provide exercise classes every week and provide personal training sessions.  I have provided numerous educational lectures on exercise and cancer.  I have a lung breathing exercise video on you tube (www.youtube.com/user/lungexercise).  My goal is to restore flexibility, rebuild strength, decrease fatigue and breathlessness in all patients.  I produced a exercise DVD for breast cancer survivors called “Wilson Technique” in 2012.  In January 2009 I organized the first women’s cancer survivor Dragon Boat Team.  We are the Empire dragons (www.empiredragonboat.com).  This team has joined a worldwide network of 130 women breast cancer teams to promote dragon boat racing as part of a healthy lifestyle as an innovative and unique support for survivors and as a mechanism to raise funds for cancer research and survivorship programs.

My goal is that all cancer patients get a prescription for exercise at the beginning of treatment.

Billy D. Davis has over 10 years of experience in the marital arts and physical fitness realms. He has studied under Kyoshi Ron Austin’s Jaribu System of Martial Arts for 15 years and is a first degree black belt. Billy’s journey to become a black belt has allowed him to teach and train individuals from a range of ages and physical levels. Billy specializes in Mixed Marital Arts, self- defense, weapons training and individualized fitness planning. Billy is currently a physical education major at CUNY York College with plans to become a Physical Education teacher within the Department of Education.

Is fully trained and certified to present the Prepared for Surgery, Heal Faster Workshop

Fran is a Registered Nurse, Registered Vascular Technologist, Reiki Practitioner and Certified Holistic Health Counselor. She has many years nursing experience, currently specializing in yoga therapy and has worked at New York-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine since 1982.

Fran continues to expand her personal practice of medical yoga therapy, which incorporates appropriate breathing techniques, mediation and the science of individualized, physical alignment. She completed “Yoga as Medicine” Level One with Timothy McCall, M.D. in 2016.

Fran has recently received her certification as a Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT) in 2017. She received her certification in Yoga for Osteoporosis with Loren Fishman, M.D in February 2018. Fran believes that yoga is completely adaptable and accessible to everyone.

Fran believes a person’s expectations and attitudes can have a significant impact on their lives. She encourages you to use all the resources at your disposal to assist you in your recovery. She will be your partner and guide as you choose to actively participate in your healing process.
